Women's Institute

WI is a Branch of Cumbria/ Cumberland Federation of Womens Institutes. The WI welcomes new members and visitors.  Membership is o
pen to all women in the dale including women in Dockray and Matterdale

Meetings are second Wednesday of the month, 2pm -5pm in Glenridding Public Hall. Each meeting involves a business session, a competition, tea and talks. All talks start at 3pm and all visitors (women and men) are welcome to attend. 

Once a year (in March) we provide lunch for all those aged 70 or over in the area.  This year over 50 people attended

 
Our programme in  2013 is the  Wednesday monthly meetings and and our monthly walks.

Meetings coming up are:


June -  House/Garden visit. We all visit a member for tea
July -   Annual outing. This year to Hutton in the Forest
August - no meeting
September - The Art of Stick Making
October - The Postal Service
November - A Danish Christmas
December - Annual General Meeting

WI Walks

The WI arranges a programme of walks once a month. These are for all members - usually  it is bring your own packed lunch and tea in a cafe or pub at the end.
 
The 2013 walks programme is now available from the secretary.
 

For the last six years the WI has supported a long distance walk - Hadrians Wall, St Cuthberts Way , Lady Anne's Way, the Southern Uplands Way,the Cleveland Way and along Offa's Dyke
