The Jubilee Singers were founded in 1977 (Jubilee Year) by Denise Maxwell. The choir gives concerts to support local causes - church funds, public hall funds and so on. The choir started with only five ladies. Membership rapidly increased but remained ladies only. We entertained at local venues, such as WI meetings and other local organisations. We always performed a Christmas Concert in Glenridding Village Hall, involving the local school children, and a few willing and very able men folk.
In 2012 the choir gave six concerts, including one in Watermillock and one in Penrith.
We are now (2013) back to being a two part womens' choir with 20+ members, still entertaining locally. We meet every week in Glenridding Village Hall at 7.30pm - currently on a Wednesday.
New members are always welcome and if you are interested in coming along to join us, do please contact Denise on 01768 892 923.
Next events involving the Jubilee singers are coming up from July with concerts in Patterdale, Glenridding, Matterdale, Renwick and one or two other local venues. | ![]() Practice Session in Glenridding Public Hall - 2009
