Women's Institute
WI is a Branch of Cumbria/ Cumberland Federation of Womens' Institutes. The WI welcomes new members and visitors. Membership is open to all women in the dale including women in Dockray and Matterdale.Meetings are second Wednesday of the month, 2pm -5pm in Glenridding Village Hall. Each meeting involves a business session, talks, tea and sometimes a competition or an exchange of goods like books or plants. All talks start at 3pm and all visitors (women and men) are welcome to attend the talks.
Once a year (in March) we provide lunch for all those aged 70 or over in the area. In 2019 over 40 people attended ; the lunch was held on a wonderful spring day and we were delighted to see so many people. If anyone knows of over 70 year olds or people about to be 70 who might be 70 in the year ahead please contact Margaret Boothroyd so the WI can be sure to invite them to next year's lunch.
This year we have also organised the meeting for the local WIs in our area , this was in April.
Our programme in 2019 is the Wednesday monthly meetings and and our monthly walks.
Also see the "Whats On" listing for the talks at the monthly meetings
The full 2019 programme for meetings and for walks is now available
